Deliverect vs Flipdish: Which Restaurant Technology Platform Is Better?
Deliverect is an order aggregation tool. It pulls orders from Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats into one place and forwards them to your POS or kitchen. Flipdish is a full restaurant technology platform that helps restaurants build direct ordering channels and reduce marketplace dependency.
These are different products solving different parts of the same problem. Understanding that distinction makes the comparison much more useful.
What Deliverect does
Deliverect sits between your marketplace accounts and your kitchen. When a customer orders on Just Eat or Uber Eats, Deliverect receives that order and sends it to your POS or kitchen display automatically — without staff needing to monitor a separate tablet per platform.
It also handles:
- Menu publishing and synchronisation across marketplace listings
- Order status management
- Consolidated reporting across all marketplace channels
For restaurants juggling three or four marketplace accounts and finding the tablet-per-platform approach unsustainable, Deliverect solves a real operational problem. Orders are captured cleanly, errors from manual re-entry are reduced and everything runs from one screen.
What Deliverect does not do: it does not create a direct ordering channel. Every order that flows through Deliverect came from a marketplace. You still pay marketplace commission — typically 25–35% of order value — on each one. Deliverect makes those orders easier to receive. It does not make them cheaper.
What Flipdish does
Flipdish is built around a different premise: that restaurants should own their customer relationships and capture as many orders as possible without paying a marketplace for access.
Its core platform covers:
- Restaurant POS — cloud-based, built specifically for restaurants
- Branded website with online ordering
- Branded mobile app in your restaurant's name
- Self-service kiosks
- AI phone agent for automated call and order handling
- AI marketing and customer re-engagement
- Delivery management
- Loyalty and customer data tools
Marketplace aggregation is also available as an add-on within the Flipdish platform. But the primary design is to reduce marketplace dependency rather than to streamline it.

The cost of staying on marketplaces
Deliverect charges a monthly fee per location. Marketplace commission continues on top — 25–35% of every order processed through the platforms you are aggregating.
On £500,000 of annual marketplace revenue at 30% commission, you are paying £150,000 per year to the platforms. Deliverect handles those orders more efficiently. The £150,000 still leaves the business.
A Flipdish direct ordering channel allows the same customers to order directly from you. You pay a platform fee — not a percentage of revenue. Moving even 25% of that marketplace volume to direct saves £37,500 per year in commission, typically enough to cover the Flipdish platform cost with room to spare.
The economics change further over time. The platform fee is fixed. The commission saving grows with every order shifted to direct.
Why some operators use both
Many restaurant groups use Deliverect and Flipdish together, at least during a transition period. Deliverect handles existing marketplace volume while Flipdish builds the direct channel in parallel. As direct volume grows, the proportion of orders going through marketplaces shrinks.
This approach is lower risk than switching overnight. Existing marketplace customers continue to order without disruption. New customer acquisition through the direct channel starts immediately. After 12–18 months, the balance often shifts substantially towards direct.
Some operators eventually close marketplace listings entirely. Others maintain a reduced marketplace presence, treating it as a customer acquisition tool for first-time orders that then convert to direct on repeat visits.
What Flipdish offers that Deliverect does not
Customer data ownership
Every order through a Flipdish direct channel — website, app, kiosk — captures the customer's contact details and full order history. That data belongs to your restaurant.
Orders aggregated by Deliverect arrive without the customer's identity. Just Eat and Deliveroo keep the customer relationship. You receive the order revenue but cannot follow up, run loyalty programmes or understand individual customer behaviour.
The difference becomes significant as you scale. A restaurant with 5,000 direct ordering customers has 5,000 people it can market to, reward and retain. The same restaurant with 5,000 marketplace orders has a list of transaction amounts.
Loyalty programmes
Flipdish loyalty ties directly into the direct ordering channel. Customers earn points on every order through your website or app. You can set thresholds for rewards, run specific promotions for loyalty members and identify your most valuable customers from their order history.
This is not possible when orders flow through a marketplace. Marketplace loyalty schemes are the marketplace's — they keep the customer relationship, not you.
AI marketing
Flipdish AI Marketing uses the customer data you accumulate through direct ordering to run automated re-engagement campaigns. It identifies customers who have not ordered in 30 days, customers whose last order included a dish similar to a new menu item, or customers who order on a predictable pattern and can be reached just before their typical ordering time.
These campaigns run automatically without a dedicated marketing team. They are only possible because you own the customer data. Marketplace customers do not contribute to this picture.
AI phone ordering
Phone orders remain relevant for takeaways and delivery restaurants, particularly among customers who are less comfortable with apps or who have always ordered by phone. Staff time spent taking phone orders introduces errors and takes capacity away from service.
Flipdish AI Phone Agent answers inbound calls and takes orders automatically. The call is handled, the order is captured and it flows directly to the kitchen without staff involvement. The channel remains available for customers who want it.
Deliverect does not interact with phone ordering.
POS, kiosks and in-store channels
Deliverect is a back-of-house tool. Its interaction with in-store operations is limited to forwarding marketplace orders to the POS or kitchen.
Flipdish adds a POS system and self-service kiosks that share the same platform as the direct ordering channel. A customer who orders at the kiosk, orders online the following week and calls to check a previous order is recognised across all three touchpoints in a single record.
Switching from Deliverect to Flipdish
For restaurants currently using Deliverect for marketplace aggregation, adding Flipdish does not necessarily mean closing down Deliverect immediately. The two can run in parallel during a transition.
The typical sequence:
- Launch the Flipdish direct ordering channel alongside existing marketplace listings
- Drive customer traffic to the direct channel through packaging, social media and in-store promotion
- Monitor the split between marketplace and direct orders monthly
- As direct volume grows and commission savings accumulate, assess whether individual marketplace listings remain worth their cost
Flipdish has an implementation team that handles the technical setup — menu migration, website configuration, POS installation, staff training. Most restaurants are live within a few weeks.
Pricing
Deliverect charges per location per month. Marketplace commission continues separately.
Flipdish pricing is subscription-based, dependent on the modules and number of locations. Online ordering pricing is available on the Flipdish website. There is no per-order commission on direct orders.
The comparison worth running: how much marketplace commission do you currently pay per year? What percentage of that volume could realistically move to direct in 12–18 months? The commission saving on that shifted volume, compared to the Flipdish platform cost, usually shows a clear payback period.
The case for Flipdish
Deliverect is a well-built tool for what it does. Managing multiple marketplace accounts through one integration saves time and reduces errors.
But aggregating marketplace orders more efficiently is not a path to reducing marketplace commission — it is a path to managing your dependency on it more comfortably. Flipdish offers something different: the infrastructure to build a direct customer base, own your customer data, run loyalty and marketing, and capture orders without paying 30% of revenue to a platform you do not own.
For restaurant operators who want to grow margin rather than manage its erosion, Flipdish is the more strategic long-term investment.
